My Grandfather passed away 59 years ago today. He was one of a kind and only 34 when he died. My desire to find out more about him and his life was a primary reason why I began doing genealogy. God Bless You, Johnny.

Here is an example of a tombstone that once stood upright but fell years ago and has now become one with the ground. I wonder how many stones like this have been covered by brush and growth in cemeteries with no perpetual care around the country?

PHOTOS 38 & 39 - TOMBSTONE OF MY GRANDMOTHER, HELEN MARKERT KEITH - Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon, Lebanon County, PA
31 years ago today I lost my Nanni Helen. I was only 6 years old at the time and, unfortunately, I have very few memories of her. I began doing genealogy to find out more about her life and the lives of my Grandfathers who died before I was born. Nanni Helen was a good woman and a great mother to my mother. I honor her today.

Another nice monument depicting an Angel watching over the grave. Notice the wonderful detail in the Angel and also the Cross and the pillars supporting the Cross. Just beautiful!

The Alter Family monument in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philly. Obviously, the Angel is pointing upward and indicating to us that the Alter Family are now at the alter in Heaven.
