PHOTO 68 - TOMBSTONE EPITAPH - Eden Cemetery, Salisbury Cove, Mount Desert Island, ME

A haunting epitaph indeed. Can you image seeing this at night on a stroll? It would creep me out! Kudos go to the spider and small insects who helped make this picture.

  1. This epitaph, in its many forms, appears on many gravestones here in New England. This one is so clear that I didn't even have to squint to read it. Many of the ones here in Massachusetts are only readable a few words here and there.

It was meant to provide instruction not comfort. (source: Sharon Carmack's book, Your guide to Cemetery Research)

    Love the bugs!
