MAUSOLEUM & CRYPT OF CARLO GAMBINO - St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, NY

At the same cemetery and in the same mausoleum building that one of his successors, John Gotti, is entombed, is entombed the infamous Carlo Gambino, head of the family that continues to carry his name. Gambino, near his death, picked his brother-in-law and co-underboss, Paul "Big Paul" Castellano, to succeed him as head of the family, rather than the widely respected and loved other co-underboss, Neil Dellacroce. This eventually led to "Big Paul's" assassination by Gotti and Gotti's rise to the leadership of the family. Carlo's mausoleum is very impressive and other family members are interred with him. He is not interred on the same level as Gotti.

  1. I find it hard, as a Roman Catholic. I have Family Interred in St. John Cemetery.. Decent, Religious Roman catholics. I cannot understand how an organized crime figure, that devoted his life to corruption, stealing, murder, and God knows what else.. is buried in the same cemetery with DECENT HOLY people.. Could someone PLEASE... answer me that?

  2. First off they're normal people just like the rest of us, so they were in organized crime big deal! Second off maybe they have enough money to be buried anywhere they want to be buried. Last but not least, you talk about being a Roman Catholic, I was born and raised in Sicily and I'm Roman Catholic. As a Roman Catholic I'm going to go ahead and assume that you know the Bible pretty good. If so then you should know:Luke 6:37-42New International Version (NIV)

    Judging Others
"37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
So that brings me to my next question, who are you to judge anybody off or were they should be buried? I think before you judge others you should take a look at your self and see if what you're doing, judging others meets up to God's standards!
